    INTRODUCTION

    It is an honor and a privilege to be here today with our client, government officials, and honored guestes, to participate in this exciting day for the Wenjiang District of Chengdu.  I would like to thank our client, Pearl River Runjing Real Estate Company, for the opportunity to be a part of such a significant project.
    十分荣幸今天能在此与我们的客户、政府官员和尊贵的客人共同见证成都Wenjiang区的重要时刻。我要感谢我们的客户珠江润景房地产公司为我们提供这样的机会使我们有幸参与如此重要的项目。
     
    My name is Tom Brink, Vice President with RTKL International, and I would like to present you with a view of RTKL projects around the world, and a vision for the Wenjiang area of Chengdu.
    我叫Tom Brink，是RTKL国际有限公司的副总裁。我希望能与大家分享一下RTKL的一些全球项目以及成都Wenjiang区的愿景。

    Over the last 60 years, RTKL has become a leader in the design of the built environment, with 900 employees spread over 10 offices worldwide.  Our firm is based on a foundation of Urban Design, with an emphasis on creating places for people.  These places are defined in some cases by iconic buildings, like the Shanghai Science Center, the US Capitol Visitor Center, or the Chinese National Film Museum.  
    在过去的60多年里，RTKL已经成为了设计界的领导者，在全球的10多个办公室拥有900名员工。我们的公司以城市设计为基础，重点在于设计以人为本的建筑。诸如上海科技馆、美国国会游客中心、或中国国家电影博物馆等这些具有标志性的建筑案例都是这些场所的代表。

    But we are also proud to have created many other places that enrich the city, that create connections; places that people use, that they are comfortable in, that they return to many times.  Places like Westfield Center in San Francisco, a project we are very proud to say was recently declared the “Best of the Best” by the International Council of Shopping Centers.  Places like Dolce Vita in Portugal, that features a state of the art ETFE roof, the most sustainable skylight system in the world.  Or 360 Kuwait, recently completed in Kuwait City.  Or City Crossing in Shenzhen, China, where a mix of retail, office, hotel and apartments has created an urban district unique to China. 
    同时我们所创造的其它场所同样令我们倍感自豪，它们使城市更为丰富多彩、并形成各种联系；为人们带来舒适感的同时也使人们愿意经常光顾。位于旧金山的Westfield中心是另一座值得我们骄傲的建筑，其刚刚被国际购物中心协会评为“最优奖”。位于葡萄牙的Dolce Vita，则以利用超前设计的ETFE屋顶和全球最为环保的天窗系统为特色。还有最近完工的360科威特项目以及深圳万象城项目，是一座极具特点的集商业、办公、酒店和公寓于一体的综合体建筑。

    In Chengdu, we have designed a vision for the 40 hectares around you that includes a similar mix of uses that will create a wonderful place to shop, dine, play, or just stroll, designed to the highest level of  international design.  It will be an active place to come to with your friends, your family, or your business associates most any time of the day or evening.  
    我们为成都项目设计的愿景包含一个相似的综合体使得人们能够在此获得购物、餐饮、娱乐、或者只是闲庭信步的非凡体验，我们也将始终秉持最高的国际设计标准。同时这里也将成为您与朋友、家人或者商务伙伴的常聚之地。
     
    Our inspiration for the design came from Chengdu’s long history as a leading center for the production of Brocade cloth in China.  The beautiful designs, with their flowing lines and rich colors, became a metaphor for what we wished to achieve with the urban design and architecture: a place that weaves together the spirit of the past and dreams of the future; a mix of uses and experiences, and a mixture of young and old alike.  
    成都悠久的锦缎丝织生产历史是我们的设计灵感的源泉。我们希望其华美的设计-流畅的线条和丰富的色彩也能运用于我们的城市设计和建筑设计中：成就一處将梦想与历史交织在一起的地方；一個能將功能和体验综合，老少皆宜的融合體。
     
    We were struck by Chengdu’s amazing growth.  Ten years ago, there were only farm fields here.  We imagined these fields as ribbons of crops that sprouted buildings, all organically woven together.  ‘Weaving of a Dream’ became our Brand promise.  
    我们惊讶于成都的飞速发展。10年前，这里仅仅是农田。我们将这里的田地想象成能够孕育建筑物的农作物，一切都将有机地结合在一起。“交织梦想”也就随之成为我们定位这个项目的品牌承诺。
     
    We spent many months studying the site and the surroundings and created a master plan that will weave all future development together into one seamless environment.

    CHENGDU PROJECT DESIGN DESCRIPTION

    RTKL is honored to be the lead design consultant on architecture, interior and graphic design for this project.  We will work together with our client’s other consultants to create a new landmark for Wenjiang, Chengdu.
    The centerpiece of the plan is a 110,000sqm, three-level shopping mall, anchored by an Ito Department Store.  The mall will be light and airy, with generous skylights, a food court, cinema, and central court that can accommodate special community events.  Numerous International retailers, and a wide variety of restaurant offerings will ensure a range of choice for all tastes.

    A 20-story office tower will rise above the mall, designed to exceptional standards.  With the amenities of the mall just an elevator ride away, this tower is certain to become the business address of choice in the area.
